Street work at the Lapintie roundabout and Rongankatu to begin after Easter

In the centre of Tampere, large-scale street work will affect traffic this year.  A roundabout will be built at the junctions between Rongankatu, Satakunnankatu and Lapintie, and a main cycling route will be built on Rongankatu. The work will begin after Easter on Tuesday 11 April 2023 and continue until November.

Construction work affects vehicle, pedestrian and bicycle traffic in the area, and some parking spaces on the streets of the area will be decommissioned. Vehicle traffic will be gradually directed to alternative routes if necessary; safe routes past the construction site area will be arranged for pedestrians and cyclists during the works.  After the project, the new roundabout at the intersection of Lapintie, Satakunnankatu and Rongankatu will streamline traffic throughout the city centre area, and the comfort and functionality of Rongankatu will improve with the construction of the new cycle path.  The project also involves water supply, lighting and traffic light works as well as green construction. During construction work, it is advised to use alternative routes to circumvent the site. More information on traffic arrangements during construction will be provided during the work phases. Follow the information boards near the construction site. The project also includes the ProDigial research programme at the University of Tampere, which promotes productivity and digital leaps in the infrastructure sector.  The aim is to test new approaches and models to improve the smooth running of the construction site. Smooth work processes and information flows speed up construction and produce high-quality street networks.  If you have any questions or feedback, you can send them to the email address lapintie-rongankatu@destia.fi
